Cheekless Wonder

Street Fighter is by far the most popular fighting game, to the point where even people who don't play video games know of it by name. Kind of like Mortal Kombat, I suppose. Hardcore fighting gamers will know of others, such as the King of Fighters series from SNK, but it takes possibly the most dedicated fighting game fans to remember the all female SNK fighting game SNK Gals Fighter, which made its initial appearance on the Neo Geo Pocket Colour.

Well, a sequel was made on the Switch, titled SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. Can't exactly say that the game exploded on the competition scene... nor if anyone even really remembers it. The game had the female cast, and then it did some gender bends to bring in other characters, possibly to try and boost reception. One such character was Terry Bogard, the Hungry Wolf himself.

Naturally, when it came to merch, a Bishoujo was made of her, and when it went on clearance I eagerly scooped it up.

Gender Bend aside, pretty typical Terry in terms of the pose. In fact, most of his win poses involve him messing around with his cap. The costume has of course been made a bit more sexy. It's predominately the exposed midriff and short shorts. The sleeveless look has been around on his classic costume, though I believe that they were torn off and not simply a vest. The ripping effect on the shorts is a bit rough, looking more like a fluffy ring rather than Denim threads hanging in the wind.

As with all the Bishoujo line, the art work for this piece was created by Shunya Yamashita. I've reviewed a few of this line, and if you've been keeping up I'm sure you'll recognize the trademark face and eyes. Vast majority of the art has been fun, flirty, and curvy. I mean, there's been a few kind of serious looking ones, but on the whole they're really meant for shits and giggles, and the facial expression captures that nicely.

So far, so good, right?

The exposed skin gives both artist and sculptor the opportunity to show off some musculature. She's not exactly ripped, but there's enough definition to there keep it interesting and to be honest, I don't think any of the characters in that particular game are particularly muscular, as they probably wanted to emphasize the cute and sexy natures.

OK, sure, I get that.

So then why in the name of all that is holy, does Terry have no ass. Not a small ass.. not an underwhelming ass, but literally no ass. I think her ass actually sinks INTO the body and shorts are just too stiff to follow suit.

Otherwise, the rest of the statue features the typical hallmarks of Kotobukiya quality. This includes good sculpting on other areas of finer details, such as the fingernails and the hair - nothing mindblowing but it does the job and looks crisp. Paint Applications are clean with no masking issues, rough finishes, or any other paint related defects. Finally, there's Build Quality, where I"m happy to report no artifacts or poor finishes, and clearly I'm not going to be finding any loose joints, and since the statue comes secured to the base, well nothing bad is going to happen there either.

So yeah, there you have it. Not a bad piece overall, but for that complete lack of an ass.
