Dem Cheeks!

A few new things rolling in, and I figured it was a good time to take a quick look at the latest Street Fighter entry into the Pop Up Parade lineup, Cammy.

The original Fighting Doll, Cammy has been around for a long, long time and shares an unfortunate history with everyone's favourite dictator, M. Bison. There's been quite a few pieces of Character Goods over the years, but you can never really have too much of her in a Street Fighter collection. Unlike most of her other Character Goods, however, this statue is reasonably priced at 4,800 Yen as it is part of the budget friendly Pop Up Parade line up, though shipping is kind of a pain on things this big.

Cammy is packaged facing the front, but I beg to differ in that I'm pretty sure there's more than one way to properly display her, whereas a release like Chun Li is really meant to be viewed from one direction. She's wearing her classic costume, P1 Colours of course, and the backpack and lack of markings on her legs would suggest specifically from SFV.

Like with Chun Li, I appreciate the relative tame pose, but very well detailed character. There's a good amount detailing, as observed in the gauntlets, her boots, her leotard, and of course the beautiful muscle definition on the body. Hair and facial details are good given the size of the figure, and I like how the bangs and braids are sculpted such that there appears to be a sense of motion as opposed to a completely static pose. Overall, I'm quite happy with the sculpt, as well as the actual finish on the various statue components. Paint is also pretty solid, though there's no flesh tones or any real shading (unsurprising given the budget). Only the silver buckles at the front are exhibiting any significant error.

Speaking of the braids, these are parts that need to be attached. I won't lie - they're a bit of a paint to put on due to how tiny they are, and also, the paints did TOO good of a job at painting and actually covered the connectors with a bit of excess paint. If you're like me, you'll probably want to keep something nearby to pick away at this excess so the connector points are properly shaped for mating with the head.

Also, there's nothing that actually tells you that you can take the head off. Unless I broke it, this is mean to be a feature and makes putting on the braid significantly easier, seeing how they connect on the under side of the hair.

There you have it - another solid entry into the Pop Up Parade line up. I am liking how these have turned out, and they seem like a great alternative to the more expensive Kotobukiya Bishoujo releases. They must have a monopoly on that scale or something because it seems like Kotobukiya is the only company putting out seems like it is the only company that is putting out Capcom based statues. I look forward to what character they bring into the line up - hopefully it'll be Rose or R. Mika soon.
