Did Anyone Ask for a Mopey Ninja?

Next up is one Sasuke Uchiha, who was at one time supposed to the Chosen One, and while he didn't end up doing too badly, he certainly ended up being surpassed by rival in love, Naruto. While I'm not the biggest fan of the mopey ninja, he still deserves a spot on my roster because I do need some serious looking characters in my collection... I guess.

Of the main trio, Sasuke is the expensive one, coming at 5,500 Yen. A bit more of a complex character design than Naruto, Sasuke also comes with what I would consider to be appropriate fir the character:

- 1 x Main Figure.

- 4 x Face Plates (Neutral, Focused, Angry, Sharingan).

- 12 x Gripping/Posing Hands.

- 1 x Sword/Scabbard.

- 1 x Scabbard Attachment Belt Piece.

- 1 x Scabbard w/Partial Sword.

- 1 x Sword.

- 1 x Chidori effect.

I'll be completely honest - I didn't even remember that Sasuke ever had or used a sword.

The transition to figure form generally worked out for Sasuke. I would have to say, though, the face plates didn't work out as well as with Naruto. They're not bad per se, but there's just something off about the facial shape, or maybe it's the eyes.

The base body, same as the Naruto figure, has been given a skirt of soft, pliable plastic. This allows for the lower body to access its full range of motion. So, the overall potential of the body is not impeded, which allows you to pull off some great poses.

There are a few limitations to note, mind you. Due to the design of the hair, Sasuke has relatively limited neck articulation - his head tilt is not as good as on Naruto, which is unfortunate as dashing poses will more often than not result in a face that is starting at the ground. The wrist articulation isn't limited by Figuarts standards, but it is limited when it comes to getting the sword into place for certain poses. On the flip side, the ability for the arms to cross definitely helps make two handed sword poses more accurate looking.

From a paint perspective, there's more paint than on Naruto, but it's still not like everything is painted. Perhaps the most jarring paint application would be flesh colour used for the chest, and that is because the neck and face are not painted, just flesh coloured plastic. As with Naruto, some panel lining on the emblem on the back would have been nice.

Build wise, like a broken record, the only thing to say is that there's no surprises to mention, which honestly should be the case for any product line. Inconsistency isn't exactly something customers particularly enjoy.

Sasuke may not be my favourite character, but at least his action figure doesn't suck A strong underlying body, coupled with some wise decision making results in a skirted figure that doesn't just stand there.... *cough* WHIS *cough*. I certainly wish the face sculpt was a bit more accurate, but I guess I say that about many figures.

Ultimately, a figure that fits the strong precedent set by the Naruto release.
