Golden Dreams...

Frieza (or apparently, Freeza) is one of my favourite Dragonball villains. He truly is a complete dick, and he honestly doesn't care - that's what makes him fun. What's interesting is that as of the Universe Survival Saga, even the Mighty Frieza has become a Frenemy of Goku, and I'm quite curious how this changes things between them, especially considering the animosity they showed to one another even during the recruitment process.

Frieza hates Goku so much that even when dead, all he did was train and train until he was able to achieve a second, more powerful form which he self named "Golden Frieza", made its debut in the Resurrection F movie, and also showed up in the Super series. The event exclusive is the entry from the Super series, and gave collectors who missed the Resurrection F release to catch up.

What's interesting is that while there have been three different Frieza releases (Dragonball Z, Golden Frieza, Resurrection Frieza from Super) the actual body hasn't changed (so yes, he's a 1.0 Legacy figure).

Which is why I didn't really do much photography for this guy, or even play with him. I'm also somewhat concerned about paint wear.

Of the three different releases, the pack ins for both Golden Friezas is the weakest. Maybe it's that expensive paint? You only get one tail, three extra hands, and three extra heads.

The original Frieza had that and then some, and the newest Resurrection version has one less head, but they're all new and are more accurate to the on screen model, along with most of the parts from the original set (less the stand and dedicated feet).

While the figure is very pretty in its Metallic Gold paint, it certainly wasn't worth the asking price at conventions and the aftermarket on the whole. As I already owned one with more accessories, there really wasn't a reason to hunt this one down. The only reason I even have one is because a local collector was getting rid of it for $50 CAD, and there were no bites from anyone.

As mentioned, I didn't play test the figure or anything, but based on my experience with the Resurrection figure, actual posiing capabilities aren't too bad, but balancing the figure in dynamic pose is somewhat of a pain with out the tail. Paint work does look very nice, with the unfortunate reality of unpainted joints kind of ruining the effect. The figure should also hold together as expected.

So with that short entry, I'm finally the end of my Dragonball Figuarts... for now.
