This Totally Sucks!

I can't explain it - I've got a full on heart emoji for Kirby, the greatest NIntendo character of all time. Screw Link! Mario!

Zero Suit Samus you're cool, you're cool.

There's just something about an incredibly overpowered pink puff that just melts my heart. Unfortunately, getting Kirby merch is somewhat of a pain outside of Japan, but when I do see something I try to get in on it, presuming it's not outrageously expensive. So a few years ago, when Good Smile announced its Kirby Nendoroid line, I eagerly bought in. Like with Windwaker Link, it was almost like Nendoroid was created so that Kirby one day exist. The entire series is actually quite ingenious. They're all basically balls that you can attach magentic limbs to. That's all there is to it. Depending on the character, there's more window dressing, whereas Kirby is effectively the base sphere. I don't have them all, but I do have most of the actual Kirby release, including the awesome Planet Robobot set.

So naturally, when a 30th Anniversary Kirby was announced, I eagerly bought in. Well, the set was delayed, COVID and all that, but has finally made its way into my grubby hands.

So in case you're new to the world of Nendoroids, make no mistake you're not buying these to pose... at least not the typical ones. You're not buying these because they come the most detailed accessories that ever existed.

You're buying these because they look so damn cute sitting on your desk. In fact, with the exception of a very rare case, you cannot actually get these figures to stand without their base.

In fact, I'm going speed through completely with the following statements. Articulation is effectively non existent on Kirby as he's got no joints. Your posing is effectively slapping the feet and arms where it looks about right on the body. Paint and Build wise, there's very little that can actually go wrong so effectively it's flawless. The mattle finish on all the parts is very nice, with the surfaces on the body feeling like they're coated in a light layer of rubber.

If you love Kirby, get it. If you have the other Kirby.. get it anyway. You can never have enough.

Now that we've established the perfection of this figure, lets move on to what's important - the contents. Kirby is in his trademark pink, and as far as I can tell, shares only two accessory parts with the base set - sort of. The default face is common, and the Star Wand is a reuse, but this one has glittery paint as opposed to a flat yellow on the star. Naturally the body itself isn't new and is a reuse.

From here, it's basically mix and match what you want and where you want it on the figure. Everything looks sharp thanks to the excellent QC at Good Smile and the tact that they're pretty simple accessories by comparison to other offerings, even in the Nendoroid lineup.

It's hard for me to pick out a favourite amongst the new faces. The classic Kirby face I like more from a nostalgic perspective and quite frankly, it's about damn time it made an appearance in the Nendoroid line. Comedically, though, the clear winner is the surprised face.

So yeah.. it's the ultimate Kirby figure. Go get it.
